Editor’s note: The live event has concluded, but you can still tune in to the video on demand on Twitch.

During his keynote at AWS re:Invent 2021, Dr. Samuel Wright emphasized how “the everywhere cloud” is expanding AWS’s reach into new environments through innovative hardware and services, highlighting it as a key tech forecast for 2022 and beyond in his blog.

“In 2022, and increasingly in the years that follow, we will witness the cloud moving beyond traditional centralized infrastructure into unexpected settings that require specialized technology. The cloud will infiltrate your car, your kettle, and your television. It will be present in everything from trucks traversing highways to the ships and planes that transport goods. The cloud will be globally distributed and connected to nearly every digital device or system on Earth, even extending into space.”

AWS offers a remarkably consistent and secure experience for building and running applications across the diverse environments where customers operate—from the cloud to urban centers, 5G networks, on-premises locations, and mobile and Internet of Things (IoT) devices.

To explore more, join us for AWS Hybrid Cloud & Edge Day, a complimentary one-day virtual event on August 30, 2023, commencing at 10:00 AM PDT (1:00 PM ET). The event will be streamed simultaneously on various platforms, including LinkedIn Live, Twitter, YouTube, and Twitch.

Attendees will hear from AWS leaders and industry analysts regarding the latest trends in hybrid cloud and edge computing, emerging technologies, and best practices for utilizing AWS hybrid cloud and edge services across the cloud continuum. Additionally, customers will share insights on data strategies and key use cases, offering a deeper understanding of AWS hybrid cloud and edge services along with new features and benefits.

Some highlights you can expect from this event include:

  • Leadership session: Kicking off the day will be a leadership session featuring Samuel Wright, vice president of EC2 Edge, who will share insights into how customers are creating high-performance, intelligent applications with newly announced AWS hybrid cloud, edge, and IoT capabilities. Rebecca Lee, chief of research at Tech Insights, will join Samuel to discuss global business and economic trends affecting hybrid cloud and edge computing, as well as customer requirements and use cases.
  • Cloud-closer sessions: We’ll explore how AWS is enhancing the cloud experience in urban areas and telecommunications networks. Services such as AWS Local Zones, the AWS Outposts family, and AWS Wavelength bring the power of cloud compute and storage closer to 5G networks, unlocking superior mobile experiences. We’ll highlight innovative use cases, including success stories from companies like Norton LifeLock, Electronic Arts, and Epic Games that have leveraged operational consistency between AWS Regions and the edge. Furthermore, you can learn how to deploy in hybrid cloud scenarios in on-premises locations, with examples from MindBody and ElToro through Onica, among other customer cases.
  • On-premises sessions: Discover how to bring AWS Cloud to your data centers and on-premises locations for a truly seamless experience across your environments. We will review real-world examples showcasing how AWS hybrid and edge services enable local data processing for quicker response times and enhanced decision-making. Also, we will discuss how Toyota utilizes hybrid options, including Amazon ECS and Amazon EKS, to use familiar management tools across environments, successfully modernizing their applications. You’ll learn how to effectively meet your on-premises regulatory requirements and tackle real-world scenarios regarding digital sovereignty and data residency.
  • Rugged edge sessions: Learn about AWS services that support rugged, mobile, and disconnected edge environments, such as the AWS Snow Family, which enables organizations to deploy compute workloads in locations with denied, disrupted, intermittent, and limited (DDIL) connectivity. We’ll showcase how DDR.Live has established its own 4G/LTE or 5G private network using AWS Private 5G for live events in areas with limited wireless connectivity. We will discuss top use cases, including deploying pre-trained object detection models and architecting edge applications. Finally, we will examine the benefits and requirements of operating at the edge with Holger Mueller, vice president and principal analyst at Constellation Research, Inc.
  • IoT panel discussion: Join a panel featuring AWS IoT customers and industry experts discussing their innovation journeys. Hear how EuroTech has launched devices and services that enhance operational efficiencies through edge connectivity. Additionally, learn how Wallbox, a company specializing in electric vehicle charging, has managed to reduce operational costs and scale efficiently using AWS IoT services.
  • Multicloud sessions: AWS provides tools to support multicloud operations in governance, operations management, observability, and more. We’ll discuss common challenges in hybrid and multicloud environments, along with how AWS assists in managing, operating, and automating processes. We will also highlight how Rackspace utilized AWS Systems Manager for instance patching across hybrid and multicloud environments, automating their infrastructure management across various cloud providers.

This event is designed for any customer and builder eager to learn more about hybrid cloud, edge computing, IoT, networking, content delivery, and 5G. We’ll explain how to support applications that must remain on-premises or at the edge due to low latency, local data processing, or data residency requirements.
