At Amazon Web Services (AWS), we are dedicated to empowering our partners to enhance their cloud innovation efforts. A crucial component of this commitment is our AWS Partner Transformation Program (PTP), which offers extensive assessment, training, and support to assist our public sector partners in establishing successful and profitable AWS-based operations.

In 2023, we broadened the scope of PTP by introducing Targeted Transformation Modules (TTMs), which deliver tailored guidance for AWS Partners to expedite their journey in specific areas. These personalized consulting sessions have addressed critical topics such as creating a Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE) and optimizing profitability within the public sector.

Expediting Generative AI Adoption

To facilitate our public sector partners in unlocking the business potential of generative artificial intelligence (AI), we launched a dedicated Generative AI TTM in May 2024. Based on feedback from partners, this program offers customized guidance across three essential areas:

  • Foundation: Access to training and resources to deepen understanding of generative AI technologies.
  • Skills: Conducting internal technical gap analyses and establishing learning paths to enhance technical capabilities.
  • Use Cases: Identifying and prioritizing generative AI use cases within the public sector aligned with the partner’s vertical and growth strategy.

In just nine months, 70 AWS Partners have utilized the Generative AI TTM, enabling them to discover unique generative AI applications that focus on customer needs, equipping them with the necessary expertise to deliver innovative solutions to public sector clients, and improving citizen experiences.

In this article, I would like to illustrate how two AWS Partners, InnovateTech and DataSolutions, capitalized on the Generative AI TTM to foster innovation and accelerate their generative AI initiatives, benefiting government agencies and educational institutions.

InnovateTech: Enhancing AI Capabilities

InnovateTech, an AWS Advanced Tier Partner since 2022, engaged in the Generative AI TTM during Q1 2024 to boost their AI capabilities and implement generative AI solutions for public sector clients.

Sophia Martinez, Vice President of the AWS Division at InnovateTech, expressed, “Our aim in participating in the Generative AI TTM was to enhance our generative AI capabilities, gain early access to the latest AWS technologies, and establish ourselves as leaders in the AI services market.”

The InnovateTech team took advantage of the TTM process to:

  • Shorten the time-to-market for their generative AI solutions
  • Augment their team’s expertise
  • Fortify their partnership with AWS
  • Leverage AWS generative AI funding to minimize costs for proofs of concept and solution development

They successfully prioritized and rolled out generative AI solutions utilizing Amazon Bedrock and Amazon Translate for public sector, banking, and finance clients. Their offerings included summarization, information extraction, sentiment analysis, topic classification, and data visualization. By automating and optimizing AWS Cloud services, InnovateTech achieved a 40 percent enhancement in analyst efficiency and productivity, alongside a 45 percent reduction in data processing and loading workflows.

DataSolutions: Crafting a Targeted Go-to-Market Strategy

DataSolutions, recognized as an AWS Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) training partner award winner in 2023, joined the Generative AI TTM to evaluate their generative AI capabilities and formulate a go-to-market strategy.

Liam Roberts, Founder and CEO of DataSolutions, stated, “The Generative AI TTM assisted us in evaluating our capabilities, refining our marketing communications, and devising a targeted go-to-market strategy to connect with our customers.”

Through the TTM program, DataSolutions:

  • Prioritized the development and launch of generative AI solutions, including text summarization, generating new teaching materials, and video summarization.
  • Established an AWS generative AI innovation center for services such as Amazon Bedrock, Amazon Q, and Amazon SageMaker.
  • Provided free generative AI assessments and proofs-of-concept to clients.

Within three months, DataSolutions engaged with 140 education technology (EdTech) companies, qualifying over 25 opportunities and three active proofs-of-concept. They utilized AWS generative AI funding to reduce costs and showcase solutions for their clients.

Fostering Innovation in the Public Sector

InnovateTech and DataSolutions exemplify just two of the numerous success stories from our global partners that highlight the transformative impact of the AWS Generative AI TTM in enabling partners to provide innovative AI solutions to the public sector. These cases underscore how AWS, through its expertise, funding support, and strategic go-to-market initiatives, is instigating a new wave of technological advancement that has the potential to revolutionize government services and enhance citizen experiences.

I hope these examples inspire you as you strategize your generative AI roadmap.
