On Christmas Eve, children across the globe eagerly await Santa’s arrival. For the 66th year in a row, the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) will utilize its top-notch technology to track Santa’s movements. Beginning at 6:00 AM EST on December 24, families can call the toll-free number 1-877-Hi-NORAD (1-877-446-6723) to check Santa’s location. AWS is enhancing NORAD’s capabilities by enabling volunteers to handle numerous calls through Amazon Connect, a comprehensive cloud contact center service. By routing calls via Amazon Connect, NORAD staff and volunteers can field inquiries from their homes or offices, supporting those working on-site at the NORAD Tracks Santa Operations Center.

During the wildfires that ravaged northern and central California in August, a remote-sensing Earth observation satellite monitored the situation from 381 miles (613 kilometers) above the surface. Built entirely in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC), KhalifaSat gathered images to aid government agencies and first responders in assessing the wildfires’ impact. To ensure KhalifaSat maintains consistent coverage, MBRSC leverages AWS cloud services, including AWS Ground Station.
