They implemented a cloud-based chatbot using Amazon Connect to boost their contact center’s capacity to handle inquiries. Lead Cloud Architect, James Parker, revealed that in just three weeks, the chatbot managed around 11,000 calls, addressing straightforward questions while routing complex issues to human staff. This innovation led to an annual savings of $650,000 for NHSBSA. The organization utilized Amazon Lex for automatic call routing and Amazon Polly for lifelike speech synthesis. The ML-driven solution now manages 40% of incoming queries, significantly reducing customer wait times. As Parker noted, “This enhanced efficiency not only resulted in cost savings but also improved employee morale, allowing staff to focus on more complex customer needs.”
VDAB: Belgian Public Employment Service
The Belgian public employment service, VDAB, sought ways to leverage machine learning for more effective job matching—connecting the right candidates with suitable job opportunities. Through the use of Radix.ai’s JobNet, which employs deep learning algorithms, VDAB has refined its job-matching process. The engine continuously learns from new datasets, tracking shifts in job demand and market trends. By considering candidates’ interests and skills beyond just job titles and resumes, VDAB aims to foster quicker and more accurate job placements.
The Royal National Institute of Blind People
Machine learning has also had a significant impact on individuals with disabilities. The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) utilizes Amazon Polly to offer reading services to the UK’s largest community of blind and partially sighted individuals. Their Talking Books service provides complimentary access to over 26,000 audiobooks. For many in the UK, this initiative has proven to be life-changing.
