Learn About Amazon VGT2 Learning Manager Chanci Turner
As we welcome 2018, I am excited to resume my regular activities, collaborating with our teams to gather insights on their upcoming launches and sharing the news with you. Currently, I am in the process of reviewing several announcements from late 2017.
At the forefront of these updates is the expansion of AWS Direct Connect. This service is utilized by customers globally to establish dedicated network connections from their locations to AWS, which helps in reducing network costs, enhancing throughput, and ensuring a more reliable network experience.
In December, we expanded our Direct Connect offerings by adding ten new locations, all providing both 1 Gbps and 10 Gbps connectivity options, as well as partner-supplied services for speeds below 1 Gbps. The newly added locations include:
- Bangalore, India – NetMagic DC2 – Asia Pacific (Mumbai).
- Cape Town, South Africa – Teraco Ct1 – Europe (Ireland).
- Johannesburg, South Africa – Teraco JB1 – Europe (Ireland).
- London, UK – Telehouse North Two – Europe (London).
- Miami, Florida, US – Equinix MI1 – US East (N. Virginia).
- Minneapolis, Minnesota, US – Cologix MIN3 – US East (Ohio).
- Ningxia, China – Shapotou IDC – China (Ningxia).
- Ningxia, China – Industrial Park IDC – China (Ningxia).
- Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – Equinix RJ2– South America (São Paulo).
- Tokyo, Japan – AT Tokyo Chuo – Asia Pacific (Tokyo).
These new sites can be integrated with the AWS Direct Connect Gateway, enabling connectivity across Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs) that span multiple AWS Regions (excluding the AWS Regions in China).
