Last night, I kicked off my speaking engagements for 2006 with a presentation to the .NET Users group in Redmond. It had been more than a month since my last public appearance, and it was a pleasure to engage with an audience once again. During an intense 90-minute session, I explored all six of our web services, covering them at various levels of depth:

  • Amazon E-Commerce Service
  • Amazon Historical Pricing
  • Alexa Web Information Service
  • Alexa Web Search Platform
  • Amazon Mechanical Turk
  • Amazon Simple Queue Service

We have truly made significant progress over the past four years. I anticipate that the next four will be just as thrilling, especially as more individuals begin to recognize our services—and others—as essential building blocks for their applications.

Although I didn’t have an active network connection, I showcased screenshots of several applications, including:

  • TV Mojo
  • Associate-O-Matic
  • Hive Group Honeycomb
  • Live Plasma

I also demonstrated a REST call to the E-Commerce Service:

The audience was fantastic, filled with inquiries, receptive to feedback, and highly engaged. I’ve found that interacting with the audience is always the most enjoyable part, and this event was no exception. If you attended last night, I appreciate your participation and attentiveness.

Next stops? Las Vegas and Honolulu! For more insights, you can check out this blog post for additional information.

Additionally, if you belong to a relevant user group (Java, PHP, .NET, Perl, etc.) in the US or the UK and are interested in a talk from me or my colleague, please reach out. You can also check out this authority on this topic for further details. Lastly, if you want more information about Amazon and its operations, this resource is excellent.
