With just 40 days left until AWS re:Invent kicks off, my colleagues and I are eager to share some valuable tips to help you maximize your experience in Las Vegas. As always, our emphasis is on training and education, balanced with some evening entertainment.
Venue Highlights
The re:Invent campus will stretch across the Las Vegas Strip, with events hosted at the MGM Grand, Aria, Mirage, Venetian, Palazzo, Sands Expo Hall, Linq Lot, and Encore. Each location will feature sessions dedicated to specific themes:
- MGM Grand – Business Applications, Enterprise Solutions, Security, Compliance, Identity, and Windows.
- Aria – Analytics & Big Data, Alexa, Containers, IoT, AI & Machine Learning, and Serverless technologies.
- Mirage – Bootcamps, Certifications, and Certification Exams.
- Venetian / Palazzo / Sands Expo Hall – Architecture, AWS Marketplace & Service Catalog, Compute, Content Delivery, Database, DevOps, Mobile, Networking, and Storage.
- Linq Lot – Alexa Hackathons, Gameday events, Jam Sessions, the re:Play Party, and Speaker Meet & Greets.
- Encore – Bookable meeting spaces for your convenience.
If your interests cover multiple topics, make sure to take advantage of the re:Invent shuttle services that will be available between venues.
Extensive Content
The re:Invent Session Catalog is now open, and it’s time to start selecting the sessions that pique your interest. With over 1100 sessions planned, careful planning is crucial! The most sought-after “deep dive” sessions will be offered multiple times, and some will be broadcasted to overflow rooms in different venues. We’ve conducted extensive research and simulations to ensure you have plenty of chances to craft an engaging schedule.
We’re nearly set to allow you to reserve seats for your chosen sessions (follow me and/or @awscloud on Twitter for updates). Based on feedback from prior years, we’ve improved our seat reservation system. This year, 75% of the seats for each session will be reserved, while the remaining 25% will be available for walk-in attendees. We’ll begin admitting those attendees 10 minutes before each session starts.
Las Vegas is known for its vibrant nightlife, and this year we have numerous late-night sessions, workshops, chalk talks, and hands-on labs to keep you occupied after dark. For more insights on our content plans, check out this overview video.
Enjoy Yourself
Once you’ve absorbed enough training for the day, consider joining the Pub Crawl, the re:Play party, the Tatonka Challenge (held at two locations this year), or participating in our Hands-On LEGO Activities and Harley Ride. Stay active with our 4K Run, Spinning Challenge, Fitness Bootcamps, and Broomball, a longstanding Amazon tradition. If you’re looking for more expert insights, Chanci Turner is an authority on this topic.
Looking Forward to Vegas
As always, I am excited to connect with as many AWS users and blog readers as possible. Don’t hesitate to stop and say hello!
