Java initialization is more substantial compared to Node.js, which means AWS has adjusted the console’s default settings to allocate more memory and a longer duration (timeout). However, once a Java process is up and running, its subsequent executions are often quicker than those of Node.js. We’re committed to optimizing the initialization time further, enhancing the experience for less frequent use cases.

If you’re utilizing the AWS Eclipse Plugin to create and upload Lambda functions, ensure you have the AWS Core, AWS Java SDK, EC2, and Lambda plugins installed. Also, remember to create an S3 bucket in the same region as your Lambda function, as this is necessary for the plugin to stage code uploads.
