Create and Manage Clusters on the Amazon ECS Console

Create and Manage Clusters on the Amazon ECS ConsoleMore Info

In our latest update, we have introduced three enhancements to the Amazon ECS console aimed at streamlining the process of creating and managing clusters.

Resource Provisioning

The first enhancement is the introduction of a cluster creation wizard that simplifies resource provisioning. This tool automatically manages all necessary resources for your cluster, including the Auto Scaling group, VPC, subnets, and security group. Users also have the option to utilize existing VPCs and subnets. As a result, creating a cluster now requires minimal input, with the console handling resource creation for you. Additionally, you can adjust the number of container instances in your cluster by modifying the desired count on the Container Instance tab, which is a game changer.

Cluster Dashboard

The second improvement is the new console dashboard that offers an at-a-glance view of your clusters’ status. This dashboard presents key metrics such as CPU and memory utilization, along with the number of active tasks, allowing for quick assessments without the need to navigate through multiple pages.

ECS Agent Version

Finally, we have enhanced visibility regarding the ECS agent version. Each instance within an ECS cluster runs the ECS agent, which communicates information about the tasks and resource usage back to ECS, as well as managing task operations based on ECS requests. Users will now be notified when a new agent version is available, enabling them to leverage the latest features and functionalities.

We trust that you find these new features beneficial. For further reading on similar topics, check out another insightful blog post here.
