Audio Transcoding Now Available in Amazon Elastic Transcoder

Audio Transcoding Now Available in Amazon Elastic TranscoderMore Info

The Amazon Elastic Transcoder empowers users to convert media files across various formats seamlessly, enabling compatibility with smartphones, tablets, PCs, and other devices while eliminating concerns about servers, storage, scalability, and other challenges.

Today, we are excited to announce the addition of audio transcoding capabilities to the Elastic Transcoder. This new feature allows you to convert existing audio files, such as music and podcasts, into new formats. Additionally, you can extract audio tracks from video files, creating audio-only streams. This functionality is particularly useful for generating audio podcasts from video content and for supporting iOS applications that require audio-only HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) file sets.

Transcoding audio files is similar to transcoding video files. You can create a transcoding pipeline (or utilize an existing one) and then initiate a transcoding job. The job can employ one of the newly introduced audio transcoding system presets or your custom presets. Supported codecs for audio output include AAC, Vorbis, and MP3.

Audio transcoding is priced at $0.0045 (less than half a cent) per minute of audio output in the US East (Northern Virginia) Region; for pricing information in other AWS Regions, refer to the Elastic Transcoder Pricing page. Additionally, you can take advantage of 20 minutes of audio transcoding each month as part of the AWS Free Usage Tier.

This new feature is available for use starting today! For further insights, check out this related blog post to keep yourself engaged.
