Here’s a recap of the key events that unfolded in the world of AWS last week:

Monday, July 13

We announced that Amazon Redshift now supports AVRO ingestion. Additionally, we launched the Amazon Wind Farm US East. Forbes featured an article discussing Amazon’s Cloud Ecosystem, highlighting where the cloud action is. Furthermore, a post on the Cloudability Blog reviewed the AWS Summit in New York, focusing on the transition from infrastructure to platforms.

Tuesday, July 14

We introduced CloudWatch Metrics for Amazon WorkSpaces. The AWS Java Blog shared insights on invoking AWS Lambda functions using Java. Meanwhile, the AWS Partner Network Blog addressed identity federation and Single Sign-On (SSO) for SaaS applications on AWS. The AWS Startup Collection spotlighted companies such as InVision, CrowdStrike, BlueStone, and Caspida. Additionally, the We Kanban Blog discussed Amazon Web Services Config, and the Cloud Academy Blog provided a guide on mastering Amazon authentication in five steps with AWS IAM.

Wednesday, July 15

We unveiled a DynamoDB update featuring triggers (Streams + Lambda) along with a cross-region replication application. The Amazon Mobile App Distribution Blog announced the new Amazon Cross-Platform Mobile Ads API. The AWS Big Data Blog introduced Presto, the Amazon Kinesis Connector for interactively querying streaming data. The AWS Partner Network Blog focused on securing web applications in AWS with Soha. The Cloud Academy Blog discussed CloudFormation and AWS deployment automation, while the Gathering Clouds Blog explained how AWS Marketplace is transforming the software industry. A post on Twitter highlighted the use of Digits with Amazon Web Services, and a new AWS Loft Talk covered the story of 600,000 VMs.

Thursday, July 16

We rolled out updates for several AWS SDKs, including those for Unity, Java, AWS CLI, Windows PowerShell, .NET, iOS, Go, Ruby, and JavaScript. The AWS Partner Network Blog invited you to learn about how the APN empowers consulting partners to build their businesses on AWS. Furthermore, the Cloudability Blog proposed four essential tags that every cloud instance should have. A Reddit discussion in /r/aws revolved around best practices for ELB health checks.

Friday, July 17
