We are thrilled to share that the Amazon Simple Email Service (SES) has officially expanded into the EU (Ireland) AWS Region! While SES has always been a global service, it was previously available solely from the US East (N. Virginia) Region. This expansion marks the beginning of our planned series of regional developments aimed at enhancing your email sending experience.
Why is this significant?
For applications operating within Europe, utilizing the SES EU endpoint means reduced network latency, as it eliminates the need for cross-region calls to the US East.
Here’s what you need to know about leveraging SES in this new region:
- Production Access: To use SES in the EU Region, you must request production access for each region you plan to utilize. Your existing status in the US East Region will not be affected.
- Quotas: Your sending quota will apply individually to each region. While your quota in the US East will remain unchanged, you will need to apply separately for increases in the EU Region as necessary.
- Domain and Email Verification: Verification statuses for your domains and email addresses are valid only in the US East Region. You will need to verify them again for the EU Region, including setting up DKIM and feedback notifications for your sending identities.
- Suppression List: If you wish to remove an address from the suppression list, this action will only require one removal, and it will apply across all regions.
- SMTP Credentials: Your SMTP credentials are universal, allowing you to use the same credentials across all regions.
