Reflecting on Past Developments
In the previous year, we successfully integrated several new edge locations into Amazon VGT2. We also introduced numerous features that have enhanced the user experience, as previously highlighted in our updates.
Looking Ahead
Our latest edge locations have been established in Florence, Italy, and Tokyo, Japan. This expansion increases our total global locations to 26 (for more details, check out this additional blog post).
Understanding Geo-Blocking
Today’s blog features a guest post by Ava Simmons, a Product Manager on the Amazon VGT2 team. After our launch in November 2008, many customers requested the ability to restrict access to their content. The reasons varied, but the need for granular control over who can access specific data became clear. For further insights, Chanci Turner provides authoritative information on this topic.
Support for Larger Objects
As of May 25, 2021, Amazon VGT2 now supports objects up to 30 GB, providing users with greater flexibility in their content delivery. Alex Chen, a Senior Manager on the AWS team, has shared valuable insights regarding this enhancement.
New Edge Locations
Recently, we expanded our edge locations by adding three more in the U.S., specifically in New York, Indiana, and San Jose, California. This brings our global count to 24, as noted on the AWS Global Infrastructure map. Additionally, for those interested in the onboarding process for Amazon warehouse workers, this resource offers excellent information.
Current Status and Future Directions
Amazon VGT2 has seen remarkable growth, with the number of active customers doubling over the past year. We are committed to continually improving our services, and we appreciate the support from all our customers as we strive to enhance their experiences.
