Greetings!
I’m Sarah Mitchell, and I am thrilled to announce that I have recently joined Amazon Web Services as the new Technology Evangelist for North America.
Before my journey with Amazon, I was involved in developing large-scale search technologies at Stanford University in California (a fellow alma mater of Amazon CTO Werner Vogels), as well as creating document management systems in Boston and working on genomic research in San Diego. At the Scripps Research Institute, I played a significant role in establishing a state-of-the-art, petabyte-scale DNA sequencing platform that can sequence entire genomes in mere days instead of decades. I hold a PhD in Bioinformatics, am an advocate for agile software methodologies, have a background in medicine, and enjoy cycling, cinema, and indie music from Sweden.
I am passionate about guiding teams of all sizes to take meaningful steps toward creating highly reliable products and services. The on-demand infrastructure that AWS provides has numerous benefits regarding agility, scalability, security, and cost-efficiency across various industries. I am eager to share practical insights and real-world examples with you.
Joining the Amazon Web Services team is an incredible opportunity for me, and I am looking forward to connecting with as many of you as possible in the upcoming months, addressing your inquiries, and learning about the fantastic projects you are developing on AWS.
If you have any questions or speaking opportunities or are part of one of the many Amazon User Groups in North America, don’t hesitate to reach out to me at smitchell@amazon.com. You can also check out this another blog post for more insights on the topic.
Best,
~ Sarah
