As the AWS Community Days events continue to thrive worldwide, last week saw a successful gathering in Poland, where over 600 cloud enthusiasts came together. The event featured engaging talks from speakers like Emilia Novak and Tomasz Michalski, sparking lively discussions among attendees. My colleague, Lisa Tran, was present and is already looking forward to next year’s event!
Highlights from Last Week’s Announcements
Here are some notable launches from the previous week:
- Amazon CloudFront Introduces Origin Access Control (OAC) for Lambda Function URL Origins: You can now safeguard your AWS Lambda URL origins by employing Amazon CloudFront’s OAC, which ensures that only specified CloudFront distributions are granted access. Detailed guidance on implementing CloudFront OAC is available in the CloudFront Developer Guide.
- AWS Client VPN and AWS Verified Access Integration: If you’re currently using AWS Client VPN or a similar third-party VPN solution for secure application access, you can now seamlessly integrate AWS Client VPN with AWS Verified Access for both new and existing applications.
Two exciting updates related to Knowledge Bases for Amazon Bedrock also caught my attention:
- Improved Retrieval Accuracy Through Metadata Filtering: This new feature allows for the retrieval of not just semantically relevant chunks but also a more precise subset based on applied metadata filters and associated values.
- Custom Prompts and Result Configuration for the RetrieveAndGenerate API: Users can now select custom prompts and configure the maximum number of retrieved results, enhancing their control over the search outcomes. This information is retrieved from the vector store and sent to the Foundation Models for answer generation.
