Last year, I detailed the launch of the Amazon EC2 P3 instances, which incorporate Tensor Core technology, specifically designed to expedite machine learning training and inference tasks for complex deep neural networks. Our clientele has expressed great satisfaction with P3 instances, leveraging their capabilities for a wide range of applications.
Additionally, we’re thrilled to announce reductions in data transfer pricing in the Asia Pacific regions, with cuts of up to 34% in Japan and 28% in Australia, effective from September 1, 2018. This change aims to benefit AWS customers utilizing services like Amazon EC2 and Amazon S3.
Moreover, our Amazon Lightsail platform has undergone enhancements, including new instance sizes and further price reductions. Lightsail simplifies access to AWS’s robust capabilities, enabling users to swiftly deploy virtual machines with pre-configured settings.
In line with our commitment to offering competitive pricing, we’ve also reduced prices for EC2 H1 instances, designed for big data applications, and introduced usage-based pricing for Amazon Chime, making it more accessible for users engaged in frequent communication.
