Welcome to the latest updates from AWS Training and Certification for February 2023. This month, we are excited to announce the launch of 16 new self-paced courses available on AWS Skill Builder. These include the AWS Jam Journey: DevOps re:Invent, three new AWS Builder Labs, and four training courses specifically designed for AWS Partners. Additionally, AWS Skill Builder Team subscriptions are now available in four new countries and feature enhanced Administrator reporting.

Enhanced Features for AWS Skill Builder Subscriptions

The AWS Jam Journey is a unique, gamified learning experience that allows users to develop AWS skills through real-world challenges. This latest offering, AWS Jam Journey: DevOps re:Invent, is now part of our lineup alongside existing journeys in security, networking, machine learning, databases, and gaming. It includes both fundamental and intermediate challenges tailored for those looking to enhance their DevOps capabilities.

Introducing AWS Builder Labs

AWS Builder Labs provide an interactive, self-paced environment within the AWS Management Console. We’ve added three new labs to our extensive collection this month:

  1. Getting Started with Amazon Comprehend: Custom Classification – A 75-minute foundational lab aimed at developers and software engineers, where you’ll create and test a custom classification model using Amazon Comprehend.
  2. Getting Started with Amazon Comprehend: Custom Entity Recognition – A 60-minute foundational lab for developers and software engineers, guiding you through creating and testing a custom entity recognition model using Amazon Comprehend.
  3. Migrate a Monolith Web Application to AWS Using Application Migration Service (MGN) – A two-hour intermediate lab for developers and architects. You will learn how to migrate a monolith web application to AWS by using various migration services.

New Free Digital Courses on AWS Skill Builder

Fundamental Courses:

  • Getting Started with Bottlerocket – A 30-minute course exploring Bottlerocket’s benefits and use cases for container applications development. Perfect for developers, architects, and cloud engineers.
  • Cloud for CEOs – In this nine-minute course, CEOs and presidents will learn about the cloud’s benefits and how AWS Cloud adoption can drive business growth.
  • AWS Foundations: Getting Started with AWS Cloud Essentials – A 60-minute course for technical and business professionals, covering AWS Cloud architecture, key terminology, and essential services.
  • Getting Started with Amazon QuickSight – This 60-minute course targets business analysts and aims to help you develop engaging data visualizations and dashboards.
  • Getting Started with AWS Mainframe Modernization Service – A 60-minute course that provides insights into migrating and modernizing mainframe applications using AWS.
  • Getting Started with AWS Mainframe Modernization Refactor with AWS Blu Age – In this 60-minute course, technical audiences will discover how AWS Blu Age can transform legacy mainframe applications into Java-based applications.

  • Amazon EC2 Observability, Monitoring, and Troubleshooting – A two-hour course for developers and architects covering monitoring capabilities and troubleshooting techniques for EC2 instances.
  • Data Modeling for Amazon DocumentDB – A 60-minute course for database professionals focusing on best practices for building and managing data models.

Training Opportunities for AWS Partners

Fundamental Courses:

  • AWS Partner: Cloud Economics – A 2.5-hour course designed for AWS Partner organizations’ technical and non-technical individuals, focusing on cloud business value and financial management. This updated version features new research and improved navigation, though you will still earn accreditation upon passing the assessment.
  • AWS Partner: IBM z/OS Essentials (Technical) – A 60-minute course that offers insights into IBM Mainframes and z/OS for AWS Partner technical staff.

Intermediate Courses:

  • AWS Partner: Machine Learning (Sales) – A 60-minute course for sales professionals that teaches how to identify qualified customer opportunities for AI and ML use cases.
