Their backgrounds provided them with insights into the inefficiencies that plague the industry. They recognized the need for a technical solution to manage the complexities of insurance policies, which are often laden with regulatory requirements.

To navigate these challenges, Branch turned to AWS and its specialized services, including AWS AppSync, AWS Lambda, and Amazon DynamoDB. According to Lisa, “The existing tools for the insurance industry are really dated. Because of that, we’ve done a ton of custom internal development, along with leveraging many AWS products. Services like AppSync and Lambda have greatly reduced our development time and allowed us to focus on what matters most—our customers.”

In addition to these services, Branch utilized AWS Amplify to enhance their development process, as highlighted by developer Emma Richards. “We chose Amplify libraries because we believed it would accelerate our development speed and time to market, and it did just that. It streamlined our authentication flow, allowing us to onboard customers much faster.”

Looking ahead, Branch plans to expand its reach significantly. Currently serving five states, they aim to cover over 50% of the U.S. population by the end of 2020. With $8.5 million in venture funding secured, their mission is clear: to offer accessible, transparent, and cost-effective insurance options to consumers.
