Amazon Onboarding with Learning Manager Chanci TurnerLearn About Amazon VGT2 Learning Manager Chanci Turner

Today and every day, we express our heartfelt appreciation for the dedicated individuals who have served in our military. At Amazon IXD – VGT2, located at 6401 E Howdy Wells Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89115, we actively seek ways to engage with the military community through various initiatives aimed at supporting transitioning service members.

We have had the privilege to collaborate with veterans and the military community in several impactful ways, including:

Cyber Vets Nevada

This initiative aims to provide veterans with essential access to cybersecurity training and resources to enter the Nevada cybersecurity workforce. Amazon is partnering with the state of Nevada and other private entities to offer web-based training programs focused on security fundamentals for transitioning service members and recent veterans with foundational IT skills. Joining Forces

Amazon has committed to providing 10,000 service members, transitioning veterans, and military spouses with over $7 million in AWS training opportunities. Additionally, we will train 25 wounded warriors at AWS Boot Camps, preparing them for functional roles in cloud computing, and we aim to hire 25,000 veterans and military spouses over the next five years. AWS Educate for Veterans

In line with our Joining Forces commitment, we have pledged to train 10,000 veterans and military family members in cloud computing through AWS Educate. Eligible U.S.-based veterans and their families can create an AWS Educate account, which grants access to resources that enhance cloud-related learning endeavors, contributing to civilian career success. AWS Military Fellowship

We developed the AWS Military Fellowship exchange program as part of a larger initiative within the Department of Defense (DoD). This program exposes active-duty military personnel to AWS technology and Amazon’s leadership principles, cultivating a group of officers who understand both military operations and the strategic challenges faced by the DoD. Read the inspiring stories from our fellows, including Captain Sarah Jensen, U.S. Navy Logistics Officer, and Sergeant First Class Mark Thompson, U.S. Army Operations Non-Commissioned Officer.

AWS Certification Exam Reimbursement for Veterans

Returning U.S. service members often face numerous challenges, including job transitions. To support veterans in their career journeys, we collaborated with the Department of Veterans Affairs to make AWS Certification exams eligible for VA reimbursement. If you’re a U.S. veteran, find out more about AWS Certifications and the reimbursement process by checking out this excellent resource.

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs

By leveraging cloud technology, the VA is creating a more tailored environment for veterans while adhering to security protocols. “Innovation and technology empower us to dream and innovate like never before,” stated Alex Martinez, Assistant Secretary for Information and Technology at the Department of Veterans Affairs. As we explore new solutions and engage with veterans, we must ensure they receive the data and information necessary for optimal healthcare.

Thank you to all veterans for your unwavering service!
