When you set up a Multi-AZ Database Instance through the Amazon Relational Database Service, we automatically create a standby instance that keeps an up-to-date copy of the primary database. If the primary instance experiences an outage due to issues like storage or network disruptions, Amazon RDS will seamlessly initiate a failover from primary to secondary.
