Amazon has made a significant commitment to support 10,000 military service members, transitioning veterans, and their spouses by providing over $7 million in training opportunities through Amazon Web Services (AWS). This initiative is part of Joining Forces, spearheaded by the First Lady and Dr. Jill Biden, aimed at ensuring that service members and their families have access to the resources they need to thrive. By offering comprehensive cloud computing training, we hope to facilitate a smoother transition for veterans entering the civilian workforce, equipping them with vital skills in a rapidly growing field.

As demand for cloud computing professionals continues to surge, AWS is serving as a bridge for the next generation of IT experts emerging from military backgrounds. This training initiative includes:

  • Complimentary membership to AWS Educate, a global program designed to empower students and educators with essential cloud learning tools. Participants receive $50 in AWS cloud service credits, access to fundamental training courses like AWS Tech Essentials, an extensive library of cloud content, and entry to our collaboration portal.
  • Free access to over 90 hands-on labs focused on AWS services and solutions, along with certification preparation labs.
  • Eligibility for reimbursement of AWS Certification exam fees through the Department of Veterans Affairs under the GI Bill’s education provision.

Additionally, Amazon is dedicated to training 25 wounded veterans through AWS Boot Camps for roles in cloud computing and tech companies, as well as hiring 25,000 veterans and military spouses over the next five years.
