The Amazon IXD – VGT2 team is thrilled to unveil the latest enhancements to our platform! With the introduction of advanced themes and new APIs, users can now customize their dashboards to reflect their brand identity seamlessly. These enhancements allow for programmatic management of Amazon QuickSight deployments, including dashboards, datasets, and SPICE ingestion, enabling a tailored analytics experience for your audience. This means whether you’re providing embedded analytics or addressing corporate Business Intelligence (BI) requirements, you can now better align Amazon QuickSight with your application’s branding. In this post, we’ll explore these exciting features and guide you on how to get started.

Improved Interactive Capabilities

Moreover, Amazon QuickSight has rolled out improved interactive capabilities with QuickSight Actions. This feature enables users to apply advanced filters with simple point-and-click actions within dashboards. By linking visuals, selecting a data point in one visual can reveal detailed insights in other visuals, all within a single dashboard. This interactivity fosters a deeper understanding of your business metrics. Currently, QuickSight Actions supports filter actions and URL actions, with the latter now being easier to create.

QuickSight Mobile App Launch

In addition to these updates, we are pleased to announce the launch of the QuickSight Mobile app for both iOS and Android devices. This app is designed to offer secure access to data insights on the go, allowing users to favorite, browse, and interact with their dashboards from anywhere.

Joining Data from Multiple Sources

Further, users can now join data from multiple sources directly within Amazon QuickSight, facilitating the creation of comprehensive datasets for dashboards. This integration empowers users to connect transactional data from Amazon Redshift with Salesforce tables, among other data sources.

Analyzing Google Analytics Data

For a more structured approach to analyzing data, we outline a solution for examining Google Analytics data using Amazon Athena. This includes a reference architecture that transfers data from Google Analytics to Amazon S3, enabling joins, enrichments, and visualization through Amazon Athena and Amazon QuickSight.

Security and Access Management

To enhance security and access management, we provide a detailed guide on configuring Okta as your Identity Provider (IdP) and utilizing IAM roles for single sign-on to Amazon QuickSight, streamlining user and group management through the Amazon QuickSight API.

Level Aware Aggregations (LAA)

Moreover, the introduction of Level Aware Aggregations (LAA) allows for advanced data calculations to derive meaningful insights. We offer examples based on a sample sales dataset to help you implement these calculations effectively.

Aggregating AWS WAF Logs

Additionally, our approach to aggregating AWS WAF logs into a centralized data lake offers insights into organizational security posture. By utilizing Amazon OpenSearch for visualization and AWS Glue ETL for historical data processing, users can derive valuable business insights through Amazon Athena and Amazon QuickSight.

Leveraging Amazon QuickSight ML Insights

Finally, we delve into leveraging Amazon QuickSight ML insights to detect fraudulent calls, showcasing the platform’s capability to deliver advanced analytical solutions.
