In fact, a recent report by Global Knowledge indicated that 76% of IT decision makers acknowledge an IT skills gap, marking a staggering 145% increase since 2016. Furthermore, the World Economic Forum has forecasted that over half of the workforce will need substantial reskilling or upskilling to perform their jobs effectively this year.

Tech Up BLNA Event

Consequently, AWS is thrilled to sponsor Tech Up BLNA (Black, Latinx, and Native American), a virtual event scheduled from Thursday, March 3, to Friday, March 4. This two-day event aims to empower professionals from Black, Latinx, and Native American communities to advance their careers, innovate, and foster an inclusive future through technology. The event will feature a combination of a virtual conference, a recruitment fair, and skills training sessions.

Both technical and non-technical participants can explore emerging tech trends, network for career advancement, and receive training from AWS experts to pursue AWS Certification. Attendees will be offered skills training that covers AWS Cloud Practitioner Essentials, designed for individuals seeking a foundational understanding of AWS Cloud. Additionally, a job fair with AWS recruiters will assist Tech Up BLNA participants in discovering new employment opportunities. The virtual conference will also showcase insights from seasoned AWS employees from various sectors, who will share their career journeys and perspectives. Session topics will include Cloud 101, data and analytics, cybersecurity, and our commitment to a diverse workforce, among others.

Amazon remains dedicated to preparing current and future workers for the rapidly evolving digital economy. In 2019, we pledged to invest $700 million to train 100,000 Amazon employees in the U.S. for high-demand jobs, and we are working towards a goal of helping 29 million individuals globally enhance their technical skills through no-cost cloud computing training by 2025.
