In a collaborative effort to enhance cloud computing education, the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE) Information Technology Division has partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to introduce a new diploma aimed at preparing students for entry-level positions in cloud technology. The program is set to launch in September 2020 and will accommodate around 100 students annually over a two-year period.

This innovative curriculum, developed alongside the AWS Educate initiative, consists of five semesters that cover essential cloud concepts, practical labs, professional development, and a capstone project. The training includes five courses from AWS Academy, providing a no-cost, ready-to-teach cloud computing syllabus designed to equip students for industry-recognized AWS certifications and high-demand job opportunities.

“We appreciate the dedication of IVE’s Information Technology Division in working with AWS to advance cloud education in Hong Kong,” stated Dr. Emily Wong, academic director of IVE Information Technology Division. “The Higher Diploma in Cloud and Data Center Administration prepares students for multiple AWS Certification exams, such as AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner and AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate. Achieving these certifications will connect AWS clients and partners with certified cloud experts.”

With cloud computing consistently ranked as a top skill sought by employers on LinkedIn over the past five years, the need for entry-level cloud professionals is steadily increasing. To address this demand, IVE has collaborated with AWS to curate a curriculum that provides students with the necessary skills for cloud roles post-graduation. This initiative is part of a broader global effort by AWS to support cloud education, extending from India to Bahrain and the United States.
