Research indicates that integrating social emotional learning (SEL) fosters greater student engagement, enhances academic performance, and equips students for success in various life domains. FamilyBookForm, a member of AWS EdStart, strives to promote SEL through an innovative online platform. This tool enables K12 students to connect with family and community members, capturing spoken narratives in multiple languages. Utilizing advanced speech-to-text technology, this initiative is firmly anchored in the AWS Cloud.

In an exciting development, the inaugural Amazon Alexa EdTech Skills Challenge recently concluded, where AWS partnered with SXSW EDU to encourage U.S.-based EdTechs to explore the transformative potential of Alexa in education. Among the six finalists, two outstanding projects were recognized: SayKid, chosen by the judges and awarded $50,000 in AWS Promotional Credit, and VOGO Voice, named the people’s choice, receiving $25,000. The remaining finalists each earned $10,000 in AWS Promotional Credit.
